We dedicate this post to our beloved furry family members. Our best friends. The pals who are always there for us, even when the rest of the world seems to take a time out. Yes, our pets are infinitely dear to us. We go out of our way to find them the most high-quality food. We get them groomed religiously at the best spot we can afford in the neighborhood. We make sure that they remain right on schedule with their shots and vaccinations. Many of us even dedicate a space in our beds just for them. But…
What about the in-between times? The times when they’re not with us, when we’re at work, at school or hanging out with our other friends? If your pooch or puss is a true member of your family, there is absolutely no shame in showing this fact off in your home design. Just as our kids have bedrooms and recreation areas that reflect their interests and tastes, consider creating a special area in the home, just for your pet. After all, it’s their home, too, right?
No need to overthink. Feel free to start with the basics. What does your favorite furry creature depend on you for more than anything else? Food, you say? So how about constructing a tuck-away area that is specifically designed to hold their food and water bowls? Or taking a cabinet or drawer and transforming it for this purpose? The bonus for you is, no more tripping over them when you’re not looking. And, the end result can be really cool and simple, like here.
Do you have a pet that tends to shed its fur a little more than others? HGTV says you both could benefit from a pet couch, designated just for her or him. Be sure to choose a fabric that’s a snap to clean. Perhaps you’ve got a small space in your house that’s not getting much use? It’s way too small to be a closet but too big to be a cabinet? Depending on your pet’s size, you could turn that space into a getaway nook for your pet(s), like this one that went viral on the internet. If there just isn’t any more unused space in the house? Well… if you build it, they will come.
We can hear you saying right now: “I have fish.” And while most of us would nearly die for an aquarium this amazing to house our finned favs, it’s much easier than you might think to have this in your life. Give us a call at Eileen Gould Design and Construction to discuss your pets’ new living upgrade. Here’s how it all works:
After a consultation to determine your wants and needs, we will charge a flat design fee based on the scope and size of the job. The design fee includes CAD drawings, shopping time, and designing, as well as project management. This fee does not include color renderings or permits, which we perform for an extra cost. Our payment schedules are easy, as we accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express. You’ll always know what’s going on via spreadsheets and invoices created just for you.
From all of us at Eileen Gould Design and Construction, including our own furry family member, Fletcher, we wish you a holiday season of warmth, love and happiness. See you in 2017!
